Ramadan Kitchen Appliances - Mjareb’s Advice

The countdown has begun, and Ramadan is coming soon. May Allah bless you! This guide will provide you with all the essential tips for organizing your kitchen in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan so that you can save time and effort and be able to prepare wonderful Iftars during the sacred month.

It is time to plan all the actions that will ensure you comfortable, fast and enjoyable work as you prepare meals for your family and guests. We will show you the necessary steps to clean the kitchen, arrange the appliances and food, and make the necessary purchases. Then, we’ll provide you with the most important tips for healthier Iftar, without the weight gain most fasting people suffer from, but still a delicious, refreshing and nutritious one. Don’t worry – we preserve the charm and beauty characterizing Ramadan traditions. We only want to create new memories together, suitable for the era of fitness and well-being.

1 Welcome Ramadan with a Clean Kitchen

Before you begin cleaning, choose the right time for you to do so: In the early morning, for example, and do not start working before you had a good breakfast providing you with energy.

First, properly ventilate the kitchen to avoid being overwhelmed by the cleaning products’ smell. Start washing and scrubbing everything, including floors, windows, cabinets, and appliances. Make sure you clean everything thoroughly, especially the oven, cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, mixer, juicer, coffee machine, and dishwasher.

Also, clean all your pots and dishes. You’ll be using more plates, cups, and utensils than you would on regular days. While cleaning, you can do an inventory of the kitchen and know what if you lack anything important.

2 Organized Kitchenware is Key

It may seem strange to some, but many women, even those who have been cooking for many years, find it challenging to rearrange their kitchen, making it difficult for them to work quickly because of the chaos. One reason is that they have a tendency to keep unnecessary things because they “might need them” or they were a gift. When you overcome this urge, you will see that working in the kitchen becomes much more relaxing.

There are basic rules for kitchen Organization: first, and foremost – the knives! Gently sharpen all the knives and keep them apart from the rest of the utensils. The best way to store knives is to set up a stylish magnetic wooden stand on the kitchen wall, close to where you work so you can see them clearly. This will also keep you safe because placing them in a drawer can lead to cuts when you fumble around for them.

Then, you have the pots. Set one designated shelf for all the pots and pans and do not spread them around the kitchen. Make sure to put the lid over each pot, so you do not waste your time looking for them later.

3 Prepare A Full Shopping List

Prepare a list of all the foods and canned goods you will need during the month: meat, fruit, vegetables and legumes, spices, cake and ingredients for dessert supplies, and plastic wrap and tinfoil. Arranging all canned food and raw ingredients before Ramadan is crucial. Sort them by type to make them easier to find, so that the oldest products are in the front and the newer ones in the back. That way, you won’t have to throw away any expired food. But the most important thing about cooking is the spices. Keep them in cool, well-ventilated places, and never too close to the oven or stove-top, or else they may go bad.

Once you know how much food you have, you should also make a list of the appliances that you will need. We suggest picking from the fantastic list of modern kitchen appliances above, like the Samsung Microwave Oven or the state-of-the-art Whirlpool Dishwasher. With those new additions to your kitchen, you can be sure your Ramadan cooking will go smoothly.

4 Decorate The kitchen For Ramadan

Decorating the kitchen in Ramadan encourages us, and adds a beautiful and distinctive atmosphere. You can buy pre-made decorations from home improvement stores, or if you prefer to make them yourself, you can make a lot of lovely things from simple and inexpensive materials.

As for the Ramadan table, purchase a festive cover and cloth or paper towels for the guests. Add a nice candle, beautiful utensils with some roses or flowers for a touch of refined elegance. It will delight your guests during the Ramadan feasts, which are the most popular of customs and traditions in our Arab community throughout the year and in the months of worship itself.

Preparing the kitchen for Ramadan - FAQ

How To Avoid Gaining Weight In Ramadan?

Weight gain is one of the most serious problems the family experiences when it comes to Ramadan cuisine. Here are a few of the reasons why this happens, with some helpful tips on how to avoid them:

Fatty meals, especially with plenty of saturated fat, can cause obesity. They give you a false, short-lasting sense of satiation, and contain large amounts of calories without any healthy nutrients. AskMjareb experts recommend you the best kitchen appliances that make fresh, healthy and home-made fat-free foods.

Not including Salads in the meals is another reason, though they are admittedly easy to prepare. Salad ingredients, such as vegetables or fruit contain minerals, vitamins, and fiber necessary to maintain energy, healthy digestion, and other crucial physical processes. Use your new Ramadan Kitchen appliances to assist you in preparing soups, salads, and smoothies that will keep you healthy throughout the month.

Laziness also amplifies the problem, because some tend to stay at home and relax instead of going out. It is, therefore, necessary to do a mild or moderate exercise for a couple of hours after Iftar – even if only for 20-30 minutes.

Eating while watching TV may be tempting, but it’s a huge mistake! Do not eat nuts, candy and sweets in front of the TV, because you will eat an ungodly amount before you even notice. You should replace them with chopped vegetables and a light dip.

Soft and industrial drinks contain a lot of calories and should be avoided. Instead, drink water, 1.5 – 2 liters should be enough (10 glasses at least). If you’re sick of drinking water, a little natural fruit juice can offer a nice variety, as long as you don’t exaggerate. Use the fantastic Braun juicer to get a refreshing and healthy drink from the fresh, delicious fruits of the season.

Skipping on Suhoor is a terrible habit indeed! Eating Suhoor makes fasting more enjoyable and comfortable; eating a healthy snack will prevent you from craving fatty foods later in the night.

How to keep healthy in Ramadan?

  • Avoid eating salty and spicy foods that lead to rapid thirst.
  • Fruits and legumes such as beans and corn, potatoes, milk and dairy products, as well as grain such as barley, oatmeal and whole flour, should be included in all meals. Complex carbohydrates are a source of energy, minerals, vitamins, and fiber.
  • Be sure to drink enough water to keep your body hydrated.
  • Avoid fatty foods and do not neglect the suhoor meal.
  • Try and relax for a while or take an afternoon nap to increase your energy.
  • Avoid exposure to sunlight because it may lead to headaches, especially with lack of fluids.
  • Go for a walk or any other type of physical activity even for a short time a day.

What do I put in my refrigerator before Ramadan?

  • Season vegetables like okra, pea and tomatoes can be cooked with a little salt and oil and frozen. Cool them and refrigerate them in special vacuum bags.
  • Buy what the family likes to eat during the whole month in bulk, and store it for later consumption.
  • Glass bottles of cool water are more environmentally friendly and easier to handle.
  • Tomato juice, yeast and coffee preserve their flavor in the fridge, as well as ready-made sauces such as mustard, mayonnaise and ketchup.
  • Of course, keep all the natural ingredients you use daily, like eggs, milk, and chocolate products.

Ramadan TV Shows 2019 - FAQ

How do I decide which series to watch?

Due to the large number of serials and channels, and only one month to watch them, it might be difficult to decide where to spend your time as a viewer. But if you follow this guide, we can help simplify your choice.

    Choose by Country or Dialect
Do you prefer to see a series in classical Arabic (Fussha) or spoken Arabic? If you prefer spoken-Arabic, do you prefer Gulf, Syrian, Lebanese or Egyptian dialects? This AskMjareb guide enables you to choose series by country and dialect and this alone will go a long way towards helping you choose.

If you want a Gulf dialect, for instance, you can choose from the list above from such titles as AL Ath’raa’, Hudud al Sharr, Sawwaha El-Bakht, Muda Qitta’a min Dahab, Hudn al Shouk, Ushaq Rugmal Talaq, Masa’alat Waqt, Saba’ Abwab, etc. Those who love Classical Arabic will enjoy the biography of Al Hallaj.

    Watch the New Season
You may choose to watch the upcoming parts of the series you saw last Ramadan and really liked. Some popular continuing series are Bab al Hara 10, Al Salhia, Al Hayba 3, Kalabsh 3, Afrah Iblis 2, El kibeer Awi 6, Touq al Banat 3, Buqa’at Duua 14, Itr al-Sham 4.

    Which Genres Do You Prefer
When choosing a new series to watch, if you can narrow down the genres you like – and don’t like- your choice will become much simpler. Pick from dramatic, social drama, comedy, historical, romance, suspense, biography, action, crime.

Use the lists above, picking from serials in the category that interests you most. For example, if you are looking for historical serials, you may choose the Gulf series Hudud al Sharr, or the Egyptian series Mamalik al Nar, or Touq al Banat.

If you like comedy you may find you love Baraka, Shaqet Faisal, Hogan, Valentino, Super Miro, Fikrah Bimillion Gineh, Al-Barinsisah Baisa , Min Awwal Nazra, TalQit Haz’, or even El Kibeer Awi 6.

    Follow Your Favorite Actors
You may also select the series according to your preference of actor or actress. For example, fans of comedian Haya Al-Shuaibi are going to see her in “Al-Bakhta” while fans of the action star Amir Karara will enjoy watching him in Kalabsh 3. Likewise, Amir Saad fans will enjoy the new series “Baraka”. Check the guide list on this page for even more of your favorite actors.

    Which Genres Do You Prefer
You might find a series that matches the country and dialect you’re looking for, as well as the genre, and stars some of your favorite actors. However, after watching the trailer you may not enjoy the writing, the soundtrack or the storyline of the series. It’s never too late to change your mind!

Which talk shows and game shows will I find this Ramadan?

On Egypt’s MBC channel, Ramiz Jalal will return with new funny pranks in “Kharej Nitaq al Khidma” and episodes with new movie and TV stars. Lebanese journalist Nishan will present a talk show called “Tawa’am Ruh’i” in which he will meet with famous stars such as Georgina Rizk, a former Lebanese beauty queen, and Miss Universe and her husband Walid Tawfik, a well-known singer. Asala, a powerful vocalist in the Arab world and her husband, Tariq El Erian, Angham and her husband, and others. Another talk show is with Basma Wahba called “Sheikh Al Hara” with more bold questions which reveal celebrity secrets.

Don’t miss the game show “Fawazir Ramadan” with star Nelly Karim who gives away valuable prizes, and promises to present a new and “light” style away from the traditional “Nelly and Sherihan” style.

Best Beauty And Makeup Stores on Eid al-Fitr 2019- Mjareb’s Advice

Take some time before Eid al-Fitr to visit some of the fine makeup and beauty merchants featured in the above best-of list, you’ll notice that they far outshine even the best brick-and-mortar store in terms of price and selection. You’ll find the best sales on everything you need for Eid al-Fitr and more!

1 From Noon to Faces: Pick the Online Beauty Store For You

With so many amazing online stores offering the best beauty brands from Huda Beauty to Maybelline to Max Factor in the makeup department, and from Gucci to Givenchy, Kayali to Rasasi in the perfume department, how can you know which store to shop at?

If you want a dedicated beauty store offering all the makeup, perfume, and skincare brands you’ve ever heard of any many you’ve never even imagined, shop at Faces or Golden Scent if you like to keep it Middle Eastern, or LookFantastic if you like a European flavor.

If you’re looking for natural and organic makeup, go for GreenBeautyBox in the boutique department, or iHerb in the mega-international version.

You might also want to think about your time and effort in searching. If you shop at a store like Namshi or Noon, you can find your perfume and makeup needs in one place, and shop for the other things you need as well, such as fashion, or accessories. Also, Noon often has lower everyday prices the same perfumes than many other stores – and has a new blog and tutorials spot!

2 Save On Your Eid al-FitrBeauty Preparations

As we move towards the holiday, you should take advantage of the many great sales and offers already going on at the beauty stores listed at the top of the page. For example, Golden Scent is doing an extensive pre-Ramadan sale this year with great Shaaban Boxes in men, women and mixed varieties.

AskMjareb has up-to-date lists of Ramadan promotions, offers and discounts at Namshi, Golden Scent, iHerb, LookFantastic and Noon – so check our pages first to save time and money during your countdown to Eid.

3 Beauty and Makeup Especially for Eid al-Fitr

It makes sense that we should also begin to prepare for Eid al-Fitr and how to uplift our minds, bodies and souls after a month of fasting.

A great idea for how to do this is Namshi’s new Eid Countdown Beauty Box, which pampers you with 30 carefully curated skincare, makeup and fragrance products (including something from FOREO) for only 35% of their purchase price.

Also at Namshi – treat yourself to a renewing fragrance and get a beautiful lantern-themed charm engraved with two initials of your choice.

And don’t forget the gifts you’ll need to get for your friends and family! AskMjareb has great gift giving guides for men, women, and kids as well as in various price ranges so you can pick just the right present for everyone this year.

Best Beauty, Makeup and Perfume Tips For Eid al-Fitr - FAQ

How to Pick the Right Makeup for Eid al-Fitr from Beauty Stores Online?

As you prepare for Eid al-Fitr this holy month, you’ll want to find the right makeup – especially foundation – for your skin tone. But knowing which shade to get is tough, especially when shopping online. Here’s how to pick and win every time.
    • Know Your Undertone. A cool toned person will be rosy with blue or purple veins on their neck or wrist. A warm toned person will be yellow or golden with green veins in their wrists and neck. Neutral toned people will look peachy with some green and some blue veins. Pick a foundation tone according to your skin.
    • Know Your Overtone. If you have milky or ivory skin, you can pick a light foundation tint. If you have caramel or tan skin, choose something in the medium range. And if your skin is closer to chocolate, nutmeg or mocha, go with a dark tone.
    • Know How To Shop. You can listen to product reviews on YouTube like Makyaj wa Banat, and then look for recommended products in your overtone and undertone shades. Keep in mind you can always mix two shades, and if you settle on buying only one, it’s always better to go lighter.
    • Know Where To Shop. If you shop at stores with a liberal return policy, you can always return the item after it arrives if it’s still in new condition. Several of the stores listed in this page will offer this option – check each store’s policy carefully for the latest updated info.

How To Buy Eid al-Fitr Perfumes at an Online Beauty Store?

Is it possible to pick the right fragrance for Eid al-Fitr if you haven’t tried it first? Of course, but you do have to know what you’re doing, according to AskMjareb beauty experts and Huda Kattan, creator of HudaBeauty. Start researching and order to early to take advantage of the best Ramadan sales. Also, follow these tips:
    • Know your fragrance families. There are four main fragrance families – fresh, floral, woodsy and oriental. Fresh perfumes are simple, elegant and clean. Floral perfumes take their cues from fruits, flowers and or sweet spices. Woodsy perfumes are outdoorsy and sophisticated. While Oriental perfumes are big and bold, sensual and exciting. Pick a perfume this Eid al-Fitr that comes from the fragrance family with which you most resonate.
    • Know Your Notes. The top notes in a fragrance are the first to be noticed and the first to go – usually within the first hour. The middle notes of the fragrance are its heart and will last several hours. The base notes will be the last to be noticed but will outlast the others, sometimes for as long as 24 hours. Pick a perfume whose middle and base notes you adore.
    • Know Your Concentration. The most common scent concentrations are Eau de Toilette (EDT), Eau de Parfum (EDP) and simply Parfum. EDT will have between 4-8% perfume oil, and last 3-4 hours, while EDP will be around 15-18% and last you 6-8 hours. Parfum, the strongest, can be up to 30% perfume oil and may last 12, even 24 hours. Pick a scent concentration that matches how you plan to use your fragrance.Using the preceding three tips, you should be able to accurately pick the perfect perfume for you – or as a gift this Eid alFitr – even without trying it first. AskMjareb’s Guide To Eid al-Fitr Gifts Under $200

While our list is full of perfect birthday, anniversary and Eid al-Fitr gifts for your close friends and family, you might still be looking for more advice and suggestions. Read AskMjareb’s Guide To Gifts Under $200 to find more great gifts for the special people in your life.

    Giving Eid al-Fitr Gifts Under $200 - Mjareb’s Advice

Shopping for a gift is never an easy task. People tend to know what they like and buy it for themselves, and they might simply not use anything outside their favorite products and brands. However, there are a few intelligent methods by which you can figure out how to get them the perfect Eid al-Fitr Gifts.

    1 Consider Their Passion

Most people are passionate about something. It could be a collection they have from their childhood or a hobby they are really, really into. If they can’t stop talking about a TV show they love, a Blu-Ray Boxset or a Collector’s Edition is an amazing idea. Or maybe they are coffee connoisseurs who would appreciate a state-of-the-art espresso machine. If you know someone well enough to want to buy them a gift for $100-$200 then perhaps you’ll be able to recall some meaning comments they’ve made at one time or another.

Buying someone a gift that ties into their passions or even their obsessions, is bound to earn you some major points. They are guaranteed to love it and will appreciate you more because you noticed exactly who they are and what they love.

2 Don’t Buy Something Just Because It’s Expensive

Buying an expensive gift is one way to impress your friends, but it doesn’t guarantee your gift will be a success. You’re better off investing time and thought into a present rather than simply investing piles of money. Surely you’ve heard the expression, “it’s the thought that counts.” This expression exists because people would much rather receive a thoughtful, personalized gift than an expensive one they might not use.

That said – if you’re buying a gift for a good friend’s birthday, or a momentous family occasion like an anniversary, it does pay (pun intended) to ensure that your gift is good quality, and that might cost a bit extra. But it will be worth it to see your favorite person smile.

    3 Are You Not Entertained?

Home entertainment is always popular. Whether it’s a new TV, headphones, computer, or smartphone – people love anything that can entertain them and bring them joy, which is why you can’t go wrong with these sorts of presents.

Quality earphones are precious to any music lover, and a top-of-the-line Full HD TV is worth its weight in gold to anyone who enjoys watching TV and movies at home. At first, it might seem a bit much, but today you can find reliable, even fantastic home entertainment products for relatively low prices – definitely under $200 – as is evident by our list above.

    4 Gift An Experience

A new laptop is useful for a few years, but happy memories last a lifetime. If you decide not to go the materialistic route, you can always gift your friends and family with new and exciting experiences. Send them to a full day in the spa, or buy them and their kids tickets to a fun theme park. $200 might even be enough to purchase them a cheap flight ticket and a couple of nights in a nice hotel.

There are always new things to do or try, so why not help your loved ones experience more of what the world has to offer?

7 More Eid al-Fitr Gift Ideas Under $200

Lenovo laptops, espresso makers, fitness trackers and Apple Airpods are all great gifts for just about anybody, but if you’re still debating what to get a loved one or a friend, here’s a list of 7 more Eid al-Fitr gifts people will love:

    • Shoes – Everyone needs a good pair of shoes. They can be for either exercise or formal occasions, or just for everyday use. Be warned that buying shoes for someone else can be a bit tricky, so only do that if you’re absolutely sure you know the person’s shoe-size and preference.
    • Sportswear – Of all the people who hit the gym, most of them don’t bother buying proper sportswear. While that’s too bad, it does provide you with an opportunity to get them a useful gift they will use quite a bit. It can be a fancy water bottle, a quality gym shirt, or weight-lifting gloves.
    • Electronic Gadgets – Gadgets are fun, useful, and make for great gifts. They make life a little bit more convenient, which everyone can appreciate. Get your friends a portable gaming console, a blender, or a portable propane grill, and they’ll always invite you over for a game, a drink or a BBQ.
    • eBook Reader – Speaking of gadgets, an eBook reader is a gift every bookworm will absolutely love. With an eBook reader, they can always take their latest read anywhere they wish and save their shelves from collapsing under the weight of more heavy books.
    • Jewelry – Jewelry is a personal gift, and an excellent choice if you’re shopping for a woman you love on your anniversary, her birthday, or just because. She will love a new necklace, bracelet or a ring that show you are thinking of her. For men, a new watch, cufflinks, or stylish lapel pin could do the trick.
    • Headphones – Wireless headphones are all the rage these days. They are light, compact and comfortable, and are easy to take anywhere, anytime. Music lovers would kill to get their hands on a quality pair, so why not save them the grief and get them one for their birthday?
    • Perfume – Both women and men love to treat themselves to a new fragrance now and then, so the gift if a new perfume is sure to delight. There are plenty of scents to choose from, so be sure to check our Best Perfume for Women and Best Perfume for Men lists.
